Rooibos is made up of dried leaves of Aspalathus linearis, a South African shrub plant. In the local language (Afrikaans), rooibos means “red bush”. In Western Countries, rooibos is improperly called “African red tea” and, although it shares many health principles with tea, it is theine-free.

The use and properties of hemp (Cannabis sativa) date back to thousands of years ago. This plant has always been used to produce textile fibres, especially in Asia and the Middle East. Its spread in the western Countries began in the 16th century, in conjunction with colonial expansion and naval trades of the time, first in England and then throughout Europe.
